Equal Friction Or Velocity Reduction Method Duct Design

Dear Engineers

Please advise the when we can use the equal friction method and the velocity reduction method in duct design
What is the plus and what is the minus in both methods where we can use each method and cost effect in both methods
Also please if you have a equations and calculation for velocity reduction method can you upload it with the formulas please and explanation
